Hawaii Bar Exam Information

[two_third]The Hawaii Bar Exam is a two-day exam that is administered on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of February and July. Hawaii administers portions the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) in addition to a 15-question multiple choice test over the Hawaii Rules of Professional Conduct.

The first day of the exam, Tuesday, is the essay portion of the exam. Hawaii administers the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) which consists of seven essays and the Multistate Performance Test (MPT) which consists of two 90-minute “closed universe” scenarios that come with their own rules, facts, and case information.

The second day of the exam, Wednesday, is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE). The MBE consists of 200-multiple choice questions that are tested in two 3-hour blocks. [/two_third]

An attorney admitted to practice and in good standing before the highest court in a foreign country where English common law is the basis of that country’s jurisprudence and where English is the language of instruction and practice in the courts of that jurisdiction shall be eligible for examination and admission if he or she presents satisfactory proof to have actively practiced law in that jurisdiction for 5 of the 6 years immediately prior to application.
